Mr and Ms Philadelphia Leather 2005

February 2005, Philadelphia, PA

Jim Kiley Zufelt presenting the Matt Hoffman Award

Now this was a shock.

Matt Hoffman was a gentleman active in the local gay and leather community. He also worked at the bar. Known for his outgoing nature and his willingness to help others, it was only natural that in his passing, a community service award be named in his memory to continue the legacy of service to the community.

I had no idea who was going to get this award. But, everyone on the contest committee will tell you that I argued with JKZ and Frank Deninis about current titleholders getting these sorts of awards. I personally feel that it's a titleholders' job to be doing community service. THAT is what their title is about, no?

Anyhow, I was kinda wondering through the weekend who in the world they were going to give the award to. What a dork I am! I was so dumbfounded, I didn't even have anything to say but thank you. Heck, everyone would be hearing from me in a few moments anyhow. But wow, what an honor.
