Hello Sunshine! Not only one sunburn, but two, were had this wonderful sunny weekend in Southern Florida! I was honored to be the one female judge on the panel to judge the Florida Leather Sir/boy contest. I was given the opportunity to hit a number of gay and leather landmarks in the Sunshine State, including the Ramrod bar, Elements Bar, Daddy's Closet, Leatherwerks, and the beautiful Villa Venice Resort. Villa Venice was a hoot, as I was handed the mic there and told to get the men out from under the trees! (And might I add that I was flattered that I was even allowed there, as it is a strictly men's only establishment!) Much thanks is owed to John Weal, producer of the contest, for involving me and taking such good care of me all weekend.

This was the first event since World that I really attacked/addressed the gay male population and organ donation. "What am I going to tell you as a woman?" It got a really raging applause by the time I was done! A number of contacts were made, including someone from the local health department AND a local funeral director who said that he'll do more to talk to families about donation. He never knew that donation can be done up to 24 hours past the time of death. I have also provided him information concerning NDRI's HIV donor program. He was thrilled to have something to give families suffering a loss. I also made a wonderful contact with one of the contestants, a local pup named Dire. He was so helpful with my platform that he got his workplace involved. I made the connection between them and the University of Miami Donor Program, and well, the rest is history.
